Retirement Costa Blanca
Why retire in (Costa Blanca) Spain?
- Retiring in Spain has never been so attractive with the pound beginning to strengthen again. Spain offers: a warm climate all year round – great for getting out and enjoying your retirement in the sun, large expat communities – so you can easily integrate when you begin living here, good infrastructure, cheap properties and cost of living – which will ease the strain on your pocket! Spain has a longer life expectancy than most northern European countries, transferring of your pension is relatively easy, first class health care and hospitals, cheap priced and regular flights to and from your country of origin. Spain is the perfect solution to your retirement plans.
- Where we are situated (Torrevieja, Costa Blanca south) is said to be one of the healthiest places to live in the world according to the W.H.O (World Health Organisation) because of the salt lakes which give Torrevieja a healthy micro climate, which is good for arthritis sufferers.
Costa Blanca Retirement …
- Over the past couple of decades expats have flocked to the Costa Blanca to live, work and retire – however, there are a few things that you will need to take into consideration before you make your move to Spain.
Location, location, location …
- Obviously when retiring anywhere in the world, you will need to look at what and where is best suited to you and your needs. The Costa Blanca offers you everything you need to lead a stress free life in the sun, but it is about finding the right location.
- Living inland has its pros but more in the way of cons. Property prices in general may be a little cheaper, cost of living will also be lower, you will be able to enjoy a quiter life in the country and there are some of Spain's most beautiful places further inland away from the coast. However, on the down side of living inland … You will HAVE to learn Spanish as the large percentage of the population inland will not speak English, there are no or very little in the way of expat communities, public transport and the infrastructure provided is not to the high standard of the coast, legal problems with some of the country properties in Spain make it less attractive and something that you do not want to chance going through in retirement.
- Retiring on the coast offers much more … cheap priced properties (in the areas we cover), large expat communities, near to the stunning blue flag beaches of the Costa Blanca, close to all local amenities including bars, restaurants, resorts, entertainment, social clubs and events, golf courses, sports clubs, healthcare, hospitals, local transport links and much more. Most of the local companies will speak your language, there are dozens of translation services in the area should you need them, you are able to buy the products that you will miss from the UK in many of the British stores in the area, also your daily fix of the daily newspaper in English – all this with the added bonus of living in the sun!
Your Pension in Spain …
- First and foremost before getting all excited about moving to Spain you will need to contact the Department for Works and Pensions (DWP) about receiving your pension abroad, you will need to speak directly to the DWP to see what you are entitled to receive about having your entitlements transferred to Spain.
- Please note: We are not specialists in this area, so we do recommend you seek professional advice on this matter.
Properties For Sale …
- There are hundreds of properties that we market in the area that will be suitable for you, make a check list of your needs and requirements before starting your search for a property, take into consideration where you want to be, your budget, the actual property requirements such as property maintenance – as you may not want to do as much work, size of the property – again as you may have to look at doing less work and cleaning! Special requirements such as lift is you are looking at an apartment, ground floor properties? Local transport links, social areas, communities, etc.
- There will be many different things that you personally will need to take into consideration and decisions that will need to be jointly made between you, your partner, friends and family – moving / retiring to Spain is a dream for many but one that needs to be thought through.
